I am researching Paul's letter to the Romans--reading it in conversation with Diaspora Judaism's appropriation of Greek philosophy. I am focusing in the letter/Spirit antithesis in Rom 2:29 and 7:6. That is my dissertation topic, at least.
Otherwise I love reading around the NT--especially more neglected books--Petrine epistles, 1&2 Timothy (I am writing a Bible study/lay-person's commentary on 2 Timothy right now for church), James, and Jude.
We should keep in touch--I would love to learn a few things from someone who is actually teaching! Perhaps also we can correspond and share work, read papers/essays, or otherwise encourage each other in the field. I guess perhaps you may not need all this, since you have colleagues at your school! Anyway, thanks again for your blog and commitment to faithful NT scholarship for the church.

Kyle
kfever@luc.eduK.Feverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11308848712924143717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2079461116492986819.post-31960060104102195352008-02-28T19:44:00.000+08:002008-02-28T19:44:00.000+08:00Hi Josh,It's never too early to start your collect...Hi Josh,

It's never too early to start your collection - I wished I had bought a few more books when I was working in the real estate industry - I could afford them then, but now, it's a different story! I'm eye-ing the Pillar, the New International, and the Two Horizons commentary series.

I ought and will afford to get them when I'm on official full-time academic studies.

For now, I will have to find contentment with whatever BGST has in its library :)

JWSATheologieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03776516716731379132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2079461116492986819.post-62007666074513817902008-02-27T00:58:00.000+08:002008-02-27T00:58:00.000+08:00Thank for the list. I would add Rediscovering Paul by Capes, Reeves, and Richards; Jewish Believers in Jesus by Skarsaune and Hvalvik; Pauline Christology by Fee; Imitating Jesus by Burridge.

I really appreciate your blog. It is nice to hear from a New Testament scholar who seems quite interested in the present-day church, AND from another part of the world. Thanks.

Kyle Fever
kfever@luc.eduK.Feverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11308848712924143717noreply@blogger.com
