Back From Rome

I am now back from Rome, after attending a fruitful SBL International Meeting. It was a great conference.

I presented my paper, and I was quite please with the response generated.

I might blog about my Rome trip later. For the time being, it's back to work.

Note: Photo courtesy of SBL website - This was the first session on the Paul and Pauline Literature Seminar. If you look carefully, you might just detect me sitting somewhere on the right!

Welcome home! Hope you had a fantastic one.

Are you the one sitting in front of the gigantic white panel, with both hands crossed, looking sternly at the presenter while anticipating to raised your hand to object??

hahahaha

Hi Sze Zeng,
Yes, the trip was great. I enjoyed the conference.

You spotted me in the photo - but I was certainly not looking sternly at the presenter..... :-)

Sceptics,
I did not storm the Pontifical Biblical Institute - I would even dare....I surrender to them ... :-)

Just ran through the online programme. Was surprised to see a section on Relevance Theory and Biblical Interpretation. I learned about pragmatics when I was doing linguistics at UKM. Knew that it would be useful for textual studies one day. ;-)

Hi Israel,
Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies are very common in NT studies. So whatever linguistics or literary studies you know may profitably be applied in NT studies!

Yes, I could not agree with you more. I actually felt that God has blessed me when I did my linguistic studies using the method developed by Kenneth L. Pike, from the academic branch of Wycliffe. ;-)

See, Israel....the NT studies fraternity is eagerly waiting for you to come on board!
