Day of Prayer and Fasting - 3: The Day LKY was Crucified

The Day of Prayer and Fasting on March 19 at the seminary is also the day the the budding NT scholar was "crucified."

As I highlighted in my earlier post, my pastoral group was in charge of setting up one of the Stations of the Cross depicting the crucifixion of Jesus. As their lecturer, I was given the privilege to be the first to experience the "crucifixion." Two of my other students "nailed" me to the cross. It was scary though. Many questions crossed my mind - what if one of the guys holding the hammer missed the nail and hit my hand? What if an accident occurred and I was really "nailed"?

While we had a good laugh over it, it was an unforgettable experience. As I reflected over it, I realised it must have taken our Lord much courage to face those trying and painful moments. I could not imagine the pain and suffering that our Lord had to go through. Today's Station of the Cross has given me a deeper insight and better glimpse of Good Friday, one that I would always remember and cherish.

I was telling someone this morning at dawn prayer meeting about this Stations of the Cross (though I can't say much because I did not take the time to find out more). I talked about it because somehow this Holy Week, even though the church is meeting every morning for dawn prayer (this morning was my first), the cross was "missing". Seeing your post here was in a sense refreshing for me - in the sense that the cross is not lost at least for some of us.

I had to smile at this =) putting it in contrast to Jesus' words when he was mercilessly crucified. It reminded that he was really nailed in obedience to the Father and for our sake.

Kar Yong, was that expression on your face for real? haha

Thanks, Pearlie, for your toughts.

About my expression - what do you think?

Haha ... now I notice the nonchalant expression of the guy holding the nail - so it's quite likely that your expression is for real, "Hey guys! Be serious! Don't ter-nail me!!! AHHH!!!"

Hehe .. yesterday after spending some time at the Stations set up in church, a few of us were having teh tarik and discussing .. politics .. haha .. what else.

It was mentioned that in some political circles, one cannot put up any critique on vernacular education without being instantly sent to the 12th station; don't pass GO.

Somehow, one of the photos reminded me of that conversation.

Hi Bob,

How true....well, I guess not only in politics, but in church politics as well, one can be sent immediately to Station 12 if one say the "wrong" thing!
