Junior Positions in NT at HDS

HARVARD DIVINITY SCHOOL seeks to make two junior, tenure-track appointments in New Testament and Early Christianity, with preference for specialization in Gospels or early Christian and Jewish apocalyptic (including the Dead Sea Scrolls).

The successful candidates will complement the current field of New Testament and Early Christian Studies at HDS which focuses on the interdisciplinary study of Christian literature (canonical and extracanonical), history, exegesis, and theology in the context of the ancient Mediterranean world, with special emphases in hermeneutics, feminist interpretation, and material culture.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree by the time of assuming the position in the fall of 2009, be familiar with forms of analysis that address race, gender, and social location, and be able to teach and advise at the doctoral and master’s levels, including the M.Div. program. In addition to students in the Divinity School, successful candidates will teach undergraduates and graduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Harvard University is an equal-opportunity, affirmative-action employer and encourages applications from and nominations of women and/or ethnic minority candidates. Letters of nomination are welcome.

Letters of application, accompanied by a recent curriculum vitae, a writing sample and/or select publications, and three letters of recommendation should be sent to:

Hi JW,

Haha...encrypted language must not be in the official language mah....just like when you are in Rome in 1st century, never use Latin as an encrypted language.

Having said that, Boston is a nice place. After all, I spent 2 years of my life there.

I have noticed that you often post up job positions .... perhaps your unconscious or subconscious mind is trying to tell you something? :-)

hahaha... KY, I didn't know that Latin is the official/national language... thought it was Greek. Was it?

Or Greek is the vernacular?

Hi JW,
It's like us - Latin is the official language, Greek is the common language, and at home, if you are a Jew, you would probably speak aramaic. So for us, BM is the official language, but English is more widely spoken, and at home, we speak our own dialect!
