Gay Church Comes to Town

It's official - a new gay church will be established by a Malaysian gay pastor in Kuala Lumpur this weekend.

Read about it today's The Star Online here.

Hmmm....any reason why Christianity is widely featured in the press two days in a row (see my earlier post for yesterdays' news)?

Jon,

I think my stand is rather clear on this issue for those who know me. But I think I'd also want to see things this way - why is there a need for a gay church? Does this mean the gays or those with gay inclination could not be welcome in our church today? If so, when are sinners no longer welcome in the church? Or perhaps, we condemn the gays but condone those who practises adultery, greed, slander in our church. If this is the case, are we practising double standards?

Admitedly, I don't have all the answers to my own questions. Just thinking out loud.

'tis likely anyone who doesn't fit the norm will feel unwelcome in any regular church, at least over here...because we've never actually had to deal with those people in the past.

Ionstorm,

perhaps the reason "we've never actually had to deal with those people in the past" is simply because either these people choose to live in the closet, afraid to come out, or we choose to think they are not in existence, at least in our midst.

true...yet if only the church made known that they were reaching out their hand to "everybody"...
